Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are back on the job, settled into a personal and professional relationship built on fierce protectiveness and blistering passion. Now they're assigned to impersonate two members of an international smuggling ring—an out–and–proud married couple—on a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean. As their boss says, surely they'd rather kiss each other than be shot at, and he has no idea how right he is.
Portraying the wealthy criminals requires a particular change in attitude from Ty and Zane while dealing with the frustrating waiting game that is their assignment. As it begins to affect how they treat each other in private, they realize there's more to being partners than watching each other's backs, and when the case takes an unexpected turn and threatens Ty's life, he and Zane will have to navigate seas of white lies and stormy secrets, including some of their own.
Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux hit a homer again with Fish & Chips. What is it about these authors that make their Cut & Run series so intriguing, so captivating? I don’t know, but I’m hooked. I love the characters, Ty and Zane. I love the fact that the books are easy and enjoyable reads. The stories are full of romance (and sex), suspense, drama and threats of danger and death. There are always bad guys and odd cases, but in this book, there’s a even declaration of love; who’s I won’t divulge. This is a case where these two sexy men get a chance to see what a romance and cohabitation would really be like, and it turns them on their heads.
I appreciate the fact that Urban and Roux present the nuances of the FBI as if it is firsthand knowledge, and even if it’s not true, it is believable. The minute details aren’t overstated as I have read in other M/M fiction or romance novels. The story is simply written, but with confidence and clarity. The ending of each of their works leaves me wanting more and looking forward to the next iteration of the series. Fish & Chips is a fun, engaging, suspenseful story that intrigues, enrapts and hooks the reader with the desire to turn the page before its finished. I found myself wanting to read the ending before I got there and that for me is telling.
Buy it! Read it! I think that you’ll love the story and the characters.
