POWER UP! for those of you who would like to know, is an acronym for “Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up” that promotes the visibility and integration of lesbian women in entertainment, the arts, and all forms of media. Since its founding in 2000, Power UP, based in L.A., has awarded filmmaking grants totaling over 1.5 million dollars, via a mixture of sponsorships and in-kind services from studios and production houses. I only mention all of this, because the company has become a lesbian production powerhouse utilizing the mentorship skills of the likes of Jamie Babbit and Andrea Sperling (But I’m A Cheerleader, Itty Bitty Titty Committee) to nurture and encourage upcoming lesbian filmmakers. They produce sterling, solid, quality shorts all of which are included in this collection. D.E.B.S. the precursor to the feature length version of the same name is included in this collection as is the award winning Give or Take an Inch. Highly recommended
