Gibson unleashes a charismatically explosive action persona in this rousing and violent cop vs. druggies movie. He plays an emotionally off-balanced undercover cop with Glover costarring as his stable, family man partner; and together, they become embroiled in a series of tense and exciting situations. Combining humor, action and more action to great advantage, this started a whole new buddy pic genre -- this remains one of the best of its kind. (Followed by 4 sequels)
