Another new film by Hong Kong director Scud we hope to have available in the United States is “Love Actually…Sucks”, an erotic drama about young people and their troubled romances. The film in inspired on six court cases about crimes of passion and Scud looks at the sexual desires and longings of a group of young people who verge on the self-destructive. The film begins at a wedding reception that shows the end of a couple’s marriage before it even starts. Then there is the married gym teacher who frequents public bathrooms for new “meat”. We meet a lesbian couple who like role-play and a dance instructor whose older student lusts after. There is a married artist who falls for his male model and a brother and sister in love with each other. Finally there is the young man who is so deranged that he does what he feels he has to do. The stories are all troubled and as of yet we do not have much information about the film. However, with Scud’s bold reputation, we should be watching for it.
