“Regular Guys” is an entertaining German film about Christoph a cop who is a self-confident and macho man whose fiancé is giving him trouble. After a long night he finds himself in bed with Edgar, a handsome auto mechanic. When his girlfriend throws him out of their apartment, he moves in with Edgar as a last resort. He begins to question his own sexuality and his job as a police officer as a result of living with a handsome gay male.
Chris is a sexist but with some likeable attributes. He does not remember if he had sex with Edgar and he is also attracted to a female colleague who sees him for what he is and resents him. From the very beginning the movie is a comedy of errors and as the film progresses Chris becomes increasingly fond of Edgar but we never know just how fond. Edgar is also involved in some shady deals and this puts Chris in a strange position.
The movie is a pleasant excursion into comedy and tale of mixing genders is very satisfying. We see gay people as healthy, good people like we are and this alone makes the movie worthwhile. It is a lovely film even with its predictable plot and the acting is excellent throughout.

This is a romantic comedy with as many twists and turns in it as an Agatha Christi Novel! The uniquiness of this story line is how the straight and gay scenes are played with and at times opposed to each other! This makes for a very entertaining movie and one that should be highly recommended. The actors do a very remarkable job in thier characterizations! This should be added to your Collection. ALL THAT SEEM TO BE USUALLY ARE NOT!!!

Rent this movie. it's pretty good. keeps you guessing who's gay or straight. like what movie says, 'these days you're not sure who's gay'

Directed by Rolf Silber, Regular Guys (Echte Kerle) is a german film that is both touching an funny about a pair of cops who are partners investigating a car theft ring. Throw in a mix of mistaken identities, a cute gay car thief, a confused mother, and a sexy female partner and you get an enjoyable movie with a lighthearted touch and a happy ending through all the mix-ups.

Christoph Ohrt plays officer Christoph Schwenk who upon returning home one day, after a crime bust, finds his fiancé with another man. Understandably upset he takes his belongings, which along the way he loses as well, and drowns his sorrows. In his stupor he stumbles unknowingly into a gay bar and the next morning wakes up in the arms of Edgar, portrayed by an adorable, an obviously gay, Tim Bergmann. Edgar is infatuated with Christoph and offers him a place to stay but after freaking out a bit Christoph leaves not knowing if anything has happened between them. In a funny moment Christoph has a pizza and salad delivered to him, as he’s living in his car! Unable to find a place to stay he takes Edgar up on his offer and the two begin sharing the apartment. To make matters worse it turns out Edgar is a mechanic who deals in stolen cars, the same ring Christoph and his partner are investigating. When other members of the force see the two of them together rumors begin to fly about Christoph’s sexuality. And to throw one more wrench into the mix of things Christoph and his partner get a new colleague, Helen (Carin Tietze) who is living with another woman but whom Christoph is attracted to. Is she gay as well? And then there is Edgars old boyfriend who is part of the car thieves. Through a series of mixups and misadventures this tangles web becomes more tangled until eventually it all works out. The ending is thrown a bit off by an unexpected twist but overall this is a cute and enjoyable film and I highly recommend it. Surprisingly its distributed by Disney’s Buena Vista International and does feature a fair amount of rear and frontal nudity, but all done in good taste. The DVD has a few trailers of other TLA releases but nothing in the way of extras.
