Synopsis

Nothing is left to the imagination in Stephen Shypitka's Some Boys Do sexy gay tale about one's search for love and the meaning of life. When Chance arrives in Vancouver, he sets his sights on a band of dysfunctional half-Irish brothers. There's Doran, the middle child, Cabhan, the sexually confused youngest brother and Derry, the oldest offspring -- a handsome and straight rugby player.

Rounding out this pack of bitches are Matt, a hopeless romantic who has fallen for the well-intentioned but ultimately greedy bisexual Reggie, and Leo, the resident den mother and aging queen in full crisis of her own (she is turning 70 in a day, and she's old and broke -- God help her)!

No one will be safe when things come to a head on Doran's birthday! Who will end up with whom? Who will make it to the finish line and survive unscathed this mystery theater called life?

Authentic, funny and touching relationships. Not the usual fare here, but love should never be! What a waste of time! Where do I start? The camera work looks like it was shot by someone with Parkinson's. The sound was horrible. I listened with headphones and the sound kept jumping from ear to ear for no reason. The editing had to be the WORST I've ever seen. The acting was pretty bad too. "Leo" couldn't act for S#$T. The three "brothers" couldn't have been more different. Only one had an Irish accent? huh? RUN from this film. I wish I could get my $4 back and even more I wish I could get the time back from watching this waste of time. The only two halfway decent actors were the ones playing Doran and Derry.

I am sorry but this was for me total cringe material - poor acting - no, appalling acting and stereotyped characterisations reminded again just why I have generally avoided gay indie films.
Give this a wide berth and save your dosh!

Stephen Shypitka gives us a very sexy and clever film about searching for love. Chance comes to Vancouver to visit and while there he meets a group of men who just happen to be brothers and a bit dysfunctional. Derry is the oldest and is handsome and straight; Doran is the middle brother and Cabhan, the youngest and is not sure about his sexuality. There are other men as we---Matt, a romantic and hopelessly so is in love with a self-centered and greedy bisexual, Reggie; Leo, an older “queen”, turning 70 and who is the “mother” of the guys but is broke financially. Everything comes to a crisis point at Doran’s birthday get together and we begin to wonder about who is going to be with whom and who will walk away with his head held high.
This not the usual look at love that we get. Everyone seems involved with everyone else and we have a great time watching what goes on. The director pushed the envelope as much as he can and we have lots of flesh and lots of fun.

This movie really pushes boundaries. I surprisingly liked it. Not only is it filled with hot boys, but it's got heart to it. Gregori Holderbach as Chance was superb and Julian LeBlanc as Matt was unbelievably dreamy. In fact, I think I'm in love with him. LOL!! Cinematography was a little bit weak, but this film is still worth watching. And yes, there's nudity! Wink, wink.
