Synopsis

Stereotyping seems to be a way of life in America. I ha e lived in many different places in the world but I have not seen stereotyping like I do here and gay men seem to be the prime victims of stereotyping. “The Butch Factor” looks at these stereotypes and blows them away. All different kinds of men are stereotyped—rodeo riders, musclemen, cops and athletes and they speak openly about whom they are and in doing so give a look at gay life that most rarely see. These guys take those stereotypes that have v been placed on us and rip them apart and do not exert any effort in doing so. They simply are who they are. Not only is this film entertaining but it has a lot to say.
Christopher Hines directed this project and he really deserves to pat himself on the back. He takes a comprehensive look at the subject of masculinity and he has done his research well. It is not often that you can be entertained and learn something at the same time but that is what “The Butch Factor” does. This will probably move top the head of the list of important GLBT films.
