Synopsis

Tom Courtenay plays the very gay dresser who is totally in love with the pompous actor played by Albert Finney.

Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay are both outstanding as, espectively, a grandiloquent, aging actor and his devoted dresser. Finney is the head of a second-rate touring company besieged by financial and wartime woes; Courtenay is his gay confidant/secretary/valet who watches over him with the eye of a hawk and the perseverance of a den mother. A brilliant, moving and often funny peek behind the curtain of theatre life.
