Synopsis

Anton Perrick presents the story of The Last Prince From Gaul—Orin, the youngest son of a warrior-queen of the Parisii, a tribe of Northern Gaul at the time of the Roman conquest.

In the final days of the war, Orin is captured by Roman soldiers and handed over to their officers. As Orin is an exceptionally beautiful, blond, slightly built young man who speaks Latin, a Roman commander spares his life and decides to sell him as a slave.

Orin is renamed Marcius and sent to Rome. In Rome, a sometimes bewildered Marcius has a series of adventures with gladiators, fellow slaves, former slaves, and rich young aristocrats who have far too much leisure time for their own good. Marcius's experiences and observations are those of someone at the bottom of this complex society. And, he sometimes thinks, “If this is civilization, I’m glad I’m a barbarian.”
